Per-Model Breakdown
Analysis
Vegas is sleeping on Gonzaga here. Texas’s offense is all midrange efficiency and free throws—they rank 13th in adj OE but 219th in assist-to-turnover ratio, and they can’t force turnovers to save their lives (346th). Gonzaga’s defense is elite across the board: 9th in adj DE, 13th in opponent eFG%, and they force turnovers at the 17th percentile. The Bulldogs’ ability to protect the rim and take care of the ball themselves is exactly the kind of mismatch that blows up a thin-line favorite.
Not much daylight in the tempo department, but the Metis sims agree: 7.6–9.7 point average, and the 8.5 line sits right in that sweet spot. Vegas is underestimating the margin here because they’re giving Texas too much credit for offensive rebounds and free-throw prowess, which won’t matter against a Gonzaga defense that neutralizes those strengths. Take the extra three points—they’re earned.
